an electrifying evening

It was a pretty good night of music at the Acadia on Thursday. It was diverse (and emerging, and musical, and organized!), yet consistently rocking. If you missed any of the artists, check out the show preview for MySpace info…they all come with my recommendation.

Also, for anyone who missed it or who wants to relive the joy of watching me get shocked by the mic every fifteen seconds or so, check these Acadia recordings out before I hide them away from the world forever:

miscellany

A belated thank you to everyone who came to our Red Room show a couple weeks ago. We felt kind of out of our element there for all kinds of reasons, so it was really great that we got so much support.

For anyone who missed our Acadia show, you’ll be pleased to know that we’re playing there again this Thursday at 9:45. The Acadia is cool, we hope to be incrementally more entertaining than last time, and it’s a freaking Thursday! So, you know, stop on by!

set list

I was at the Police concert at the Xcel last Tuesday (which, every local newspaper review notwithstanding, was awesome). On the way in, some girls wearing Cities 97 t-shirts were giving out set lists for that night’s show. Not only were they correct; they included the encore songs.

Some may say that this isn’t very rock and roll, but perhaps we’ve had enough of this whole “spontenaeity” thing in pop music. So, without further ado, I present to you our set list for tonight’s show at the Loring:

1 – How You Remind Me
2 – Hotel California
3 – Paint It Red
4 – Quarter-Life Crisis
5 – Glory of Love (from Karate Kid II)
6 – Freebird
7 – Never Gonna Give You Up
8 – Dvořák – Symphony No. 9, in E Minor (New World)

Encore
9 – Summer of ’69
10 – Closing Time
11 – 4’33″

Be sure to show up and hear your favorite tunes!

July 10, 2007
6:00 pmto11:00 pm

Andy and I will be playing an acoustic show at the Loring Pasta Bar Red Room’s Acoustic Tuesday. Doors at 6, us at 8:15. There’s a $5 cover that also entitles you to bring a friend (so $5/pair of people).

Loring Pasta Bar
327 14th Av. SE.
Minneapolis, MN 55414

6:00 – Art Vandalay
6:45 – Heidi Hansen
7:30 – A Touch Of Grace
8:15 – Ben & Andy (of the substars)
9:00 – Ben Cook-Feltz

There’s a parking lot on 13th Ave SE and 5th St SE that is $3 after 5PM, or you can try your luck with the valets or meters. Also, bring any student IDs you might have to get 30 percent off a menu item.

Update: Andy says there’s free parking after 8PM in the 4th Street Ramp, which is a mere two blocks from the Loring. While we encourage you to show up before 8, it’s not a bad option if you insist on cutting it close.
